Ryanair Brings Record Investment and New Routes to Liverpool’s Summer 2025 Schedule, Including Budapest and Extra Flights to Favorite Destinations: Know More

Ryanair is set to revolutionize travel for UK passengers with the announcement of its Summer 2025 schedule for Liverpool, featuring 31 exciting routes, including the highly anticipated new connection to Budapest. The airline is also ramping up frequencies on 18 top summer destinations like Barcelona, Faro, and Malaga, ensuring more options for travelers seeking unbeatable low fares and regular, reliable connections. This expansion is powered by Ryanair’s significant local investment, with five state-of-the-art Liverpool-based aircraft—two of which are the cutting-edge Game Changer models—bringing a total investment of $500 million.

However, Ryanair’s growth efforts face a significant challenge from the new Labour Government’s controversial decision to raise Air Passenger Duty (APD) taxes on short-haul flights by £2 per passenger starting in 2026. While the government claims the tax hike supports environmental sustainability, critics argue it will hinder growth and diminish the UK’s competitiveness on the global stage. This increase in APD puts a strain on UK families planning holidays abroad and may deter millions of potential international visitors from coming to the UK. Instead, travelers are more likely to turn to European destinations like Sweden, Hungary, and Italy, where aviation taxes are being reduced or eliminated altogether to fuel economic growth.

Ryanair is calling for immediate action from the government to abolish the APD increase, stressing that removing this barrier would stimulate tourism and regional economic growth across the UK. As Ryanair continues to lead the charge in offering affordable travel across Europe, it urges policymakers to prioritize growth and ensure the UK remains a top destination for both travelers and investors alike.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Jade Kirwan, said: “Ryanair is pleased to announce our Summer 2025 schedule for Liverpool, with 31 routes including an exciting new route to Budapest as well as extra frequencies on 18 popular summer holiday routes such as Barcelona, Faro, and Malaga providing Ryanair’s UK customers with more choice and regular connections at the lowest fares in Europe.

While this is great news for UK passengers looking to get away to soak up some sun this summer, Ryanair could be growing more rapidly to/from the UK, but Rachel Reeves’ bizarre decision to raise APD taxes by £2 per passenger damages these growth prospects, and in particular regional UK airports. If the UK Govt. wants to deliver growth, they should abolish their penal and damaging APD tax, which makes the UK uncompetitive when EU countries like Hungary, Ireland, Sweden and regions in Italy are abolishing aviation taxes, and winning dramatic traffic, tourism, and jobs growth from the UK as a result.”
