Marriott International to Open Exclusive JW Marriott All-Inclusive Resort in Costa Rica

Marriott International, Inc. (Nasdaq: MAR) has announced a partnership with Mullen Real Estate Capital to bring the prestigious JW Marriott brand to Costa Elena, an exclusive resort-residential community in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Set to open as one of the first JW Marriott all-inclusive resorts globally, this venture reflects Marriott’s dedication to transforming the luxury all-inclusive experience with its hallmark emphasis on mindfulness, unparalleled service, and elegant design.

Located just 49 miles from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport, the resort will offer an exceptional level of luxury. Guests can look forward to 415 beautifully designed rooms, 11 distinctive dining options, and a stunning array of water amenities spread over 44,000 square feet, featuring 17 pools. The resort will also offer 10,000 square feet of indoor meeting space, a 16,000-square-foot wellness spa, and a cutting-edge fitness center.

Situated within the exclusive Costa Elena resort-residential community, the property boasts 885 feet of pristine beach frontage, cementing its position as a top destination for luxury travelers. In addition, plans for future development include the introduction of JW Marriott branded residences on nearby land, further elevating the resort’s offerings.

Costa Rica has increasingly captured the attention of luxury investors and travelers in recent years. Earlier in February 2025, Marriott unveiled its 50th luxury hotel in the country, the Ritz-Carlton Reserve at Nekajui, Costa Rica. With rapid development continuing, Marriott signed 10 new deals in 2024, adding 1,086 rooms to the region. This brings Marriott’s pipeline in Costa Rica to 15 properties, totaling 1,776 rooms, with more openings expected in 2025. Currently, the company operates 22 properties in Costa Rica across 15 of its premium brands.
