Algerian and Chinese firms recently signed a framework agreement that seeks to boost bilateral cooperation in digital development and the promotion of tourism and hospitality products and services.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, 15th July, in Algiers by officials from Algeria’s Hotel-Tourism and Thermal Group (HTT) and Xiamen Airlines International Travel Service Co Ltd at the El Djazair hotel.
The signing was presided over by Algerian minister of tourism and handicrafts Houria Meddahi.
Witnessed by government officials, senior state executives, and accredited ambassadors in Algeria, the signing came at the conclusion of the 24th edition of the International Tourism and Travel Fair (SITEV 2025).
A strategic partnership
Following the signing, Meddahi spoke on how this agreement with the People’s Republic of China aligns with efforts to digitise Algerian tourism.
Indeed, given how tourism is a strategic priority for the country, the minister underscored how boosting its potential calls for a digital marketing approach that accurately represents its standing.
Meddahi added that the agreement also signifies a continued commitment to strengthening cooperative ties between the two countries within the tourism sector.
Likewise, Chinese ambassador to Algeria Dong Guangli spoke of the current state of Algerian-Chinese relations, citing the enthusiasm on the part of both nations to expand and promote connections across various fields, including culture and tourism.
The ambassador further highlighted Algeria’s rich cultural heritage and tourism assets, affirming that culture and tradition serve as a strong foundation for the country’s tourism sector.
