India Expands Presence at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) as Outbound Tourism Market Set to Reach USD 55 Billion by 2034

India is making significant strides in the international tourism sector, highlighted by its expanding presence at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025. This year, India’s participation at the event has increased by 41% year-on-year, with a strong representation from leading airlines like Air India, regional tourism boards from Goa, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, and the Indian Ministry of Tourism.
The event, taking place from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at the Dubai World Trade Centre, serves as a crucial platform to showcase India’s growing influence in global travel and hospitality.
India’s Outbound Tourism Market on the Rise
According to research from Future Market Insights, India’s outbound tourism market is expected to reach USD 55 billion by 2034, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.4% over the next decade.
This growth is largely driven by increasing disposable incomes, a rising middle class, and a strong desire for international travel, particularly among millennials seeking unique travel experiences abroad. Furthermore, the demand for Indian tourists has surged globally, with various destinations intensifying efforts to attract travelers from India.
As part of the expanding tourism sector, STR data reveals that India has added 114,000 hotel rooms in the past decade, reflecting a growth rate of over 3% annually. With sustained demand, hotel occupancy rates have increased in eight of the last ten years.
This expansion in infrastructure highlights the nation’s commitment to meeting the needs of a growing number of domestic and international tourists.
India at ATM 2025
India’s larger-than-ever showcase at ATM 2025 will feature a broad spectrum of the country’s travel offerings. From luxury tourism and wellness retreats to cultural destinations and adventure tourism, India is positioning itself as a diverse and lucrative travel destination. Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME at ATM, emphasized that India’s participation not only highlights these varied travel experiences but also serves as a gateway for international industry players to tap into India’s fast-growing tourism market.
The ATM conference will feature 68 sessions across three content stages, including a discussion on Multimedia: Connecting Global Audiences & Unlocking Hyper-Loc
alized Campaigns on April 30. The panel will delve into the behaviors of key markets like India and China, exploring how global travel brands can better connect with these rapidly expanding travel markets.
Emerging Sectors and Partnerships
One of the key discussions at ATM 2025 will focus on sports and events tourism, particularly the growing interest in travel between India and the Middle East.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a significant driver in promoting tourism, especially after Saudi Arabia secured the rights to host IPL matches. Such developments further reinforce the importance of strategic partnerships and global events in boosting regional tourism flows.
The conference will also include a session by Shivani Gupta, Managing Partner at SPAG, who will provide insights into India’s “Next Gen Traveller,” offering a detailed analysis of emerging trends and strategies to capitalize on this high-potential market.
Looking Ahead
ATM 2025 is expected to welcome over 2,600 exhibiting companies and attract more than 47,000 attendees from around the world.
The event’s theme, “Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity,” reflects the growing need for better interlinking of global tourism networks to foster sustainable practices and drive future growth.
