Austrian rail operator ÖBB has announced the suspension of its Nightjet service between Berlin, (Germany) and Brussels (Belgium), effective Friday, March 28. The overnight route, which was introduced in December 2023, will be temporarily discontinued due to unforeseen engineering work.

The Nightjet service, which operated three times a week, took approximately 13 hours and 30 minutes to travel between Berlin and Brussels. However, it has faced competition from the European Sleeper train, which also runs three times a week on the same route.

In addition to the Berlin-Brussels cancellation, ÖBB revealed that engineering work in Germany, Austria, and France will also affect other Nightjet services. Trains on routes including Vienna-Paris, Berlin-Paris, Zurich-Amsterdam, and Zurich-Prague will be suspended on various dates from March 27 through late May.

For more information on affected services, passengers can check the Nightjet website.
