Hilton Appoints Ted Selogie as General Manager of Iconic New York Hilton Midtown, Driving Excellence in Guest Experience and Operations


Hilton has announced Ted Selogie, as the new General Manager of one of New York City’s most iconic properties. In his new role, Selogie will be responsible for the oversight of all facets of operations at the 1,878-room hotel located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. In this role, he will direct the entire hospitality experience—from guest relations to employee motivation—and lead the property in its commercial performance.

Selogie brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having spent more than 30 years in the hospitality industry. Throughout his career, he has held significant leadership roles with leading global brands, including Marriott International and Accor. His journey in hospitality began humbly as a barback at the former North Shore Hilton, now known as DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Chicago – North Shore Conference Center, in Skokie, Illinois. From these early beginnings, Selogie steadily rose through the ranks, gaining valuable experience in various executive positions across six prominent hospitality brands.
Prior to his role at Hilton, Selogie was the General Manager of Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, where his strategic leadership played a key role in driving the hotel’s exceptional performance, setting new records. His efforts were recognized with a Forbes 5-Star Spa designation, and the hotel was ranked as the top luxury hotel in Los Angeles on TripAdvisor. This success underscores Selogie’s strong commitment to operational excellence, talent development, and consistently delivering exceptional experiences to guests.
In his role at Accor, Selogie was Regional Vice President, where he managed a portfolio of Fairmont, Sofitel, and Swissôtel properties spanning across major cities including New York, Chicago, and California. Additionally, he served as the Area General Manager for 13 properties within the Chicago metropolitan area, further honing his skills in managing large-scale operations and ensuring the highest standards of service.
Selogie’s leadership philosophy goes beyond business acumen; he is deeply committed to community involvement and philanthropy. He has been actively involved in various industry boards and committees, including those of the California Hotel & Lodging Association, the New Orleans Hotel & Lodging Association, the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association, Visit California, and the Los Angeles Tourism Marketing District. Additionally, Selogie is an advocate for education and mentorship, actively contributing to initiatives such as DePaul University’s School of Hospitality, SOS Children’s Villages, and PINK House.
His extensive experience and dedication to both the hospitality industry and the community position him as an ideal fit to lead the New York Hilton Midtown into its next chapter.
