Bahrain-based airline Gulf Air has secured a significant deal for twelve new Boeing 787 Dreamliners, marking a major step in the airline’s expansion strategy. This acquisition will not only enhance Gulf Air’s fleet with cutting-edge, fuel-efficient widebody jets but also enable the airline to expand its global reach. The signing ceremony saw the participation of Bahrain’s Minister of Finance and National Economy, Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Stephanie Pope, and Gulf Air Group Chairman Khalid Taqi.
With this strategic acquisition, Gulf Air is poised to strengthen its long-haul capabilities while enhancing fuel efficiency, helping to meet the growing demand for international travel. Once the order is finalized, it will serve as a key component of the airline’s plans to expand its global footprint with world-class service and cutting-edge technology.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, celebrated for its fuel efficiency, extended range, and enhanced passenger comfort, plays a crucial role in Gulf Air’s long-haul operations, linking over 50 global destinations. With 10 787 aircraft already in its fleet, the airline is primed for further expansion, strategically targeting both emerging and established markets across Asia, Europe, and the U.S. to grow its international network.
